I, too, was VERY sick as a 4 year old child: couldn't walk, and very high fevers (diagnosed as Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis). I have vivid memories of laying in my parents' bed with her laying beside me, stroking my hair softly; nights in the hospital where she did not leave my side, and oh, yeah, cold baths with the smell of rubbing alcohol. It wasn't until I had children of my own did I begin to understand how difficult that time must have been for both my Mom and Dad. Thanks for leading me to reflect.
